The Northwind Arts Center Gallery will feature works by Catska and Cory Ench from January 16 to February 22.

Cory and Catska have been collaborating since 2000 on projects ranging from fantasy and science fiction book and magazine covers to public murals, taking advantage of the objectivity and the wealth of ideas that come from working together. Both are continuously and increasingly pursuing their own creative visions.

A reception for the artists during Gallery Walk will be held on Saturday, February 7 from 5:30 until 8 PM at the Northwind Arts Center, 2409 Jefferson Street.

A Coffee Talk will be held on Friday, January 30 at 7:00 PM with the artists.

Northwind Reading Series

On January 8, Northwind Reading Series will feature Kate Lebo and Brian McGuigan. The readings will start at 7 PM in the Northwind Arts Center, 2409 Jefferson Street.

Kate Lebo was raised in southwest Washington and lives in Seattle, where she works for Richard Hugo House, Seattle’s literary arts center. She’s been a senior editor for Rivet Magazine, a freelance arts writer for the Willamette Week and the Vancouver Voice, and a tech editor for a Microsoft vendor. Now she writes for free on Good Egg (www.goodeggseattle.blogspot.com), a blog about homemade pie and other delicious things. She got her BA from Western Washington University in 2005. Her first chapbook manuscript is perpetually under construction.

Born and raised in Queens, NY, Brian McGuigan is a poet, performer, arts administrator and raconteur currently residing in Seattle. He works at Richard Hugo House and is the co-founder and curator of “Cheap Wine and Poetry,” Seattle’s coolest reading series. Brian has produced programs and curated events for Bumbershoot, Seattle Poetry Festival and the Seattle City Council, among others. Currently, Brian is at work on a full-length manuscript of poems about poverty and gentrification entitled “Eat the Rich” and writes an irregular column, “Bus Bitch,” for The Rainier Valley Post. On Friday, February 13, Northwind Arts Alliance will present a staged reading of the play A PICASSO by Jeffrey Hatcher. The play will be presented at 8 PM at the Northwind Arts Center, 2409 Jefferson Street. Tickets are $10 per person. Seating is limited so come early!

It is 1941 in Nazi occupied Paris. The interview becomes a power struggle over Fascism, art, and finally, a sexual cat and mouse game. The two person play features veteran actors, Richard Clairmont and Denise Fleener. It is narrated by Harry Dudley and directed by Ian Keith.
