December 2006 NEWSLETTER:  “Arty Things To Do”

Editor: Rae Belkin

Note:  Northwind Arts Center will be closed for maintenance from January 2 – January 18.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support in 2006.  Our committees are working hard on new shows, workshops, poetry readings and other arts programs for 2007.  (A good New Year’s resolution might be:  “I will volunteer a little time at Northwind Arts Center – it sounds like fun.”)  Have a wonderful holiday season, and the best to you in the New Year.

Gallery Happenings

“Small Expressions V”

Northwind Arts Center Showcases Smaller Works: December 1 – January 1

This juried show features small format fine arts and crafts and provides an opportunity for holiday gift shopping.   Paintings, prints, sculpture, photography, jewelry, basketry, assemblage and digital media were all represented in last year’s well-received show.

Small Expressions V” will be juried by Michael McCollum.  Now residing in Sequim, McCollum was a professor of Art at University of Nevada and a past Dean at the Cornish School of Arts in Seattle.  His own artwork is widely exhibited and is represented in many collections including the Renwick, Brooklyn, and DeYoung Museums.

Coffee Talk

On December 8th, the “Small Expressions V” juror, Michael McCollum, will give the coffee talk at the usual time of 7:00 P.M. at Northwind Arts Center.  There is a minimum charge of $2.00 for members and $5.00 for non-members.

The Northwind Arts Alliance 2006 workshop schedule has concluded for the year.  Please check this space and our website for exciting 2007 educational opportunities.
