I photograph to convey the beauty, form, spirit, craftsmanship, structure and drama of maritime vessels. The sailing boat is a work of artistic architecture from steam bent frames to miles of rigging. The intangible is the sailing spirit embodied in the building, restoring sailing and cruising these fantastic boats. To capture in photographs the many dimensions is what challenges me and gives great satisfaction when I feel I have accomplished the task. I use the image in my mind’s eye when interpreting the final photograph to convey that vision to the viewer. I always reflect on the esthetics and romance of sail that evoke an emotional response for the viewer.
