2016 Bits & Pieces
As a self-taught painter I am unconstrained by many of the conventions of the medium. I approach art much in the way I approach life: open-minded and with versatility and spontaneity. I am either painting or created mixed media collages. Painting is a sensuous and meditative process for me, and I want my audience to share a similar experience. With each piece I attempt to present a different style, both for my own enrichment and to appeal to diverse interests.I strongly believe in the importance of getting out of one’s comfort zone, and this philosophy has transformed many aspects of my life. Whether living in a different country, conquering a fear by learning to scuba dive, or simply trying out a new painting technique, I am driven by curiosity and restlessness, and these traits are reflected in my work.
Although born in California, I have lived in the northwest for over 20 years. I have always been a creative person and have used my imagination in various ways for as long as I can remember. Cardboard fortresses and elaborate make believe games come to mind. As I got older, I channeled this creativity into making art. I taught myself how to paint over many years of experimentation. You may find me hiking up a mountain, buried in a book, booking a plane ticket across the world, or wild-eyed with a paintbrush in hand.
