Artist Statement

“The camera is a wonderful toy, and I love playing with it in my own way.”

I believe that creativity is a fusion resulting from a collision between chaos and order, and that the special kind creativity we call art is generated by a kind of fearless, playful approach to the world that escapes the everyday conventions and results in a new and startling order.  It is, in a sense, a return to the unbounded world of childhood.

Fred is a Port Townsend area artist who ran his own commercial photography business in Denver for nearly 20 years, and worked for The Denver Magazine, The Denver Symphony, and for various advertising agencies.  He has shown photos in the Denver Art Museum’s All Colorado Show.  This was strictly film

He has taught English, History, Drama, photography and sailing. and has worked as a licensed delivery captain, sailing the western coast of the U. S. and much of Mexico.

Since moving to Washington, he has been working strictly in digital, and has enjoyed success in the Jefferson County Fair, and a number of juried show in Port Townsend and Bremerton, and is scheduled for a solo show in June as part of the Art Walk.

His photography reflects his varied experience, his unique vision, and his interest in sharing the fruits of that vision.
