1105 29th Street, Port Townsend
I will be working on a painting as well as processing my reproductions. These require me to start with shop work building cradle boards or milling blocks. I print my own prints then wet mount my reproductions and stain the exposed wood. After they have dried several coats of various finishes are applied.
- Head north on Sheridan past the Hospital.
- Continue to 29th street.
- Turn right on 29th. I am the 3rd house on the right.
Nature and its creatures are the focus of my paintings. I tend to get up close and personal with subjects and often include a touch of whimsy giving them a distinct personality. My work is greatly influenced by twenty years of watercolor painting. Wishing to move beyond some of the limitations of watercolor I changed to acrylics. I often begin by creating a lightly textured ground then layering multiple washes (up to 30 or more) of transparent acrylic to achieve a dynamic interplay of colors as well as a tremendous sense of depth.
