7-11-17 Arts to Elders – Al Harris Trio

Tuesday July 11, 2:30 pm at Northwind Arts gallery area. Jessie Lee vocals, Craig Buhler sax, and Al on piano.

The trio will perform pieces from the Great American Songbook (Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, etc). 

Craig Buhler is Director & first tenor sax with Sequim’s Stardust Big Band, Co-Director of Port Townsend’s annual Northwest Big Band Workshop, Director of Elder Hostel’s Carmel Big Band Workshop, and Director of Big Bands for Port Angeles’s Camp Heebie Jeebies.

Jessie Lee is a Port Angeles singer, prominently featured at Peninsula College jazz events.  She has appeared at the Cellar Door, Olympic Wine Cellars, the Clallam County Fair and various other venues in Clallam and Jefferson counties.  Currently, she is the lead singer for the Olympic Express Big Band. She has a smoky low end quality to her voice while at the same time has the ability to belt with the best of them.

Al Harris is Director of Adventures in Music, a program sponsored by the Port Angeles Symphony that tours all Clallam County elementary schools and recently some Jefferson County schools as well.  The program presents different facets of music.  Al has taught piano and improvisation for the past 25 years and formerly wrote, arranged and produced music for radio and TV and films. He has also produced about 35 CDs for himself and other artists and is the author of The Healing Power of Music Kit.
