8-08-17 Arts to Elders – Main and Brancato

Tuesday Aug. 8, 2:30 - 4:30 pm, at Discovery View Apartments, 1051 Hancock, Port Townsend

Mellifluous tones of vocalist, Carla Main, accompanied by virtuoso pianist, Ted Brancato ...  piano jazz!

Carla Main has revered singing her entire life. Classical singing in college was coupled with time in a rock band. Her versatility moved from reggae to classical choral singing by joining the Seattle Symphony Chorale and the Northwest Chamber Chorus. In her performing, Carla creates evocative phrasing and poignant delivery reminiscent of Julie London and Jo Stafford. When Carla and her husband moved to Port Townsend, she became enamored with this wonderful musical community and her local journey led to jazz and standards.

Jazz pianist Ted Brancato is a musician with four decades of experience in the music business. Since his early days, growing up in Seattle, Ted has been actively performing, composing, arranging and recording music. Ted has performed and recorded with Houston Person, Ron Carter, Christian McBride, Milt Jackson, Ernestine Anderson and Paquito D'Rivera among others.

After 30+ years of working in the New York City area, Ted released his first solo album in 2013 entitled The Next Step. Ted's second album is entitled Bicoastal. Four songs feature Ted's newly honed skills as a vocalist. More info about Ted's performances and music, click here...
