3-22 Northwind Reading Series – Floating Bridge Press Authors

Thurs. Mar. 22 - 7 pm - We welcome authors Ben Cartwright, Katy Ellis, and Alex Vigue to read from their Floating Bridge Press publications.

Ben Cartwright’s work has appeared in The Pinch, DIAGRAM, West Branch, Seneca Review, and elsewhere. His debut poetry collection, After Our Departure, was chosen by Nance Van Winckel as the winner of the Powder Horn Prize and was published by Sage Hill Press in 2016. Ben toured the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 2017 with the writers Leyna Krow, Tim Greenup, and Ellen Welcker as part of the Sinkhole Book Tour. He lives in Spokane, where he teaches at Spokane Falls Community College. He can be found online at benjamindcartwright.com

Katy E. Ellis grew up in Renton, Washington, and is the author of two chapbooks, Urban Animal Expeditions and Gravity (a single poem), which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She studied writing at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, and at Western Washington University. Her poetry appears in a number of literary journals including Literary Mama, MAYDAY Magazine, Calyx, Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review, and the Canadian journals PRISM International, Grain, and Fiddlehead. Her fiction has appeared in Burnside Review and won third place in the Glimmer Train Super Short Fiction contest. She has been awarded grants from the Elizabeth George Foundation, Seattle’s Office of Arts & Culture, and Artist Trust/Centrum. Katy cocurates WordsWest Literary Series, a monthly literary event in West Seattle, where she lives with her husband and daughter.

Alex Vigue is a queer poet and storyteller from Vancouver, Washington, with a bachelor’s in creative writing from Western Washington University. His work has appeared in Vinyl, Maudlin House, Lockjaw Magazine, and elsewhere. Alex substitute teaches, works retail, and strives to make poetry accessible to everyone.
